TUNA CATCHING BUSINESS WITH POLE AND LINE
Background:
Seram Island with Kelang isles, Manipa and Buano already stipulated as Integrated Economy Development Region has fertile marine area. Such marine area is to the Northern of Seram Sea, to the Western of Buru Marine and Eastern of Seram Marine / Banda.
Three of marines, chiefly in the Banda Marine known as in Indonesia, even in the world as one of the marine regions having potential tuna and high frigate. The potential use is not yet optimal.It is caused by the existence of various constraints, such as: (1) most of fishermen still use the armada and traditional catching instruments due to the limitation of capital, (2) supporting infrastructure such as the availability of ice and freezing compartment not yet available in some catching areas, and (3) the bait fish availability in some places starts difficult to find due to the use for consumption purposes. Based on the experience of fishermen existing in this area, one pole catching armada and line with the capacity of 15 - 20 tons can catch tuna / frigate per year reaches less than 240 tons per year. Net profit obtained in a year reaches less than Rp.500 million. This productivity level can be improved if supported with sufficient facilities and infrastructures. Viewing from Maluku is very potential in the field of maritime and fishery, then Regional Government is very supporting to develop this sector.
Purposes of Project:
· Supporting investment in the sectors of maritime and fishery, chiefly in using potential tuna and FRIGATE.
· Extending job opportunity, improving fishermen community income and PAD.
Scope of Project:
Project consists of two phases, i.e. phase
(1) fishermen preparation, development of various necessary supporting facilities and phase
(2) armada procurement and catching instrument and operational. As the starting point of the investment, necessary catching armada to make is 10 with the capacity around 15 20 tons.
Project out come:
· Availability of investment in the sectors of tuna and frigate.
· Fishermen can join in tuna fish catching activities.
· The establishment of cooperation between traditional fishermen with investors.
Expected Impact/Profit:
· Improvement in fishermen income and PAD.
· The entrance of new investors in the sectors of tuna and frigate fish catching.
· Development of fishery management industry.
Project Feasibility:
Based on the description as stated in the background part, then it can be concluded that the effort of tuna and frigate catching in KAPET, Seram is economically appropriate to invest.

· First Phase Rp.2 Billion
· Second Phase Rp.3.5 Billion
