DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL AND MEDIUM
PELAGIS FISH CATCHING
BACKGROUND
Maluku Province Region of 90% is ocean. The width of ocean area beside Papua Province is the largest one in Indonesia. From the available width, less than 15% existing in the region of KAPET Seram with potential dominant is large, medium and small pelagis fish.
In addition, there are potential fishes namely demersal, teripang, various kinds of shells, shrimp and sea grass. A long time ago, various potentials already traditionally used by local fishermen and their amounts reach less than 750,000 tons annually. Of the new said potential is used less than 29,000 tons per year with the marketing area in the islands of Seram, Ambon, Sulawesi, Java and international market. The kind already marketed is in general in the form of frozen fish, or only given by the ice and fumigated and salted. Business development of small and medium pelagis fish in Indonesia, especially in the area of KAPET Seram has the proper prospects viewing from the potential improvement in fish consumption and food industry in various countries.
PURPOSE
To utilize potential small and medium pelagis fish in improving social, regional and national economy.
SCOPE OF PROJECT:
It is implemented in two phases. First Phase is made to develop building offices, ice plant (1 unit), freezing compartment (1 unit), socialization and training to the public (1 package). Second phase is made to procure catching armada (10 units), jhonson machine (25 PK 40 units) and purse seine GIOP (10 units), catching Armada has capacity less than 20 tons with the length around 15 19 meter and can be crewed 20 25 persons.
TAX OUTCOME ·
Development of catching fishery industry and management in KAPET Seram. · Development of catching business activities in support of investment activity in the off farm sectors.
EXPECTED IMPACT / PROFIT:
· Development of local public income and particularly fishermen.
· Growth offish business activities in support of the catching fishery.
· Availability of new PAD source strengthening independence of regional autonomy.
· The new job opportunity for public in KAPET Seram.
