Rationale :
The development of the biofuel (BBN) as an energy alternative to help reduce fuel consumption has been encourage by the government in accordance with the increasing of oil price. This is supported by the availability of various kind of raw materials such as coconut, sagoo, cassava, sweet potatoes, sugar palm, etc.
The Jathropha curcas (jarak pagar) is very potencial to developed as biofuel, because of the nature of the plants which very easy to grow and very suitable for the dry land as well as marginal land. so it could be plant on the barren land. Its fruit and seed is used to produce biodiesel and also kerosine. The potencial area that suitable fo the jathropa curcas plantation is very large, based on Molluca’s Agroecology Zone map, there are about 662,672 ha with category of most suitable land (S1) for Jatropha curcas development in Maluku and about 251.784 ha of them are in Seram IEDZ area.

Esimated Project Cost :
Total invesment for the capacity of 19 ton/day : Rp. 114 Billions, consists of:
1. Development of Jathropa curcas plantations 10.000 ha (including the land contract for 30 years) : Rp. 90 Billion
2.
Biodiesel Plant for capacity of 19 ton/ day : Rp. 24 billions.
